Local Area Networks
Almost all businesses these days have more than one computing device, and need to have them networked together – usually for shared access to the internet, printers, or files.
Internet Access
Wide Area Networking
Organisations which have offices or at least a “presence” in multiple locations require distributed networking, such that each location is effectively combined as if they were part of a single local area network.
Point-to-Point Networking
Point-to-Point networking is similar in concept to Wide Area Networking, required when an organisation has more than one location of operation.
Remote Access Networking
Organisations with personnel “on the road” or even individual professionals often require access to “home base” resources – usually files, shared calendars, contact information, etc… Remote Access Networking allows such personnel or professionals to access these resources via a connection back to “home base”
Virtual Private Networking
Virtual Private Networking, usually abbreviated to VPN, is a form of remote access networking or point-to-point networking that uses encrypted communications over the public internet, making it effectively appear that they have their own private connection to the other base.
